No longer Homeless?!?  Maybe!

I wrote a blog entry a few months ago that I titled, “Homeless in Battle Creek”, and discussed how strange it felt to live between two places.  I am happy to announce that it looks like we are one step closer to finally settling in here in Battle Creek.  Even though our home in Midland has not yet sold, we have found an opportunity to purchase a home here, and it looks as if we may be able to move in before thanksgiving.

We had previously decided not to buy until we sold our home in midland, but after discovering the cost of renting here in this area we realized that we could not afford to rent.  For example, one of the homes that we looked at that was a bit small for our family and very outdated, but had enough space that we could have made it work, was Renting for $1300 a month, which is enough to make a house payment on a $200,000 home.  We decided that it was unwise to spend that much money without building any equity, so we started looking at homes again, and believe that God has provided a place that is perfect for our family.  We covet your prayers as we wait for our closing date, that everything would go smoothly with the bank, and that the house would pass all of the necessary inspections.  We also need to get our house in Midland either sold or rented in the very near future so that we have enough funds to pay for the home here…another matter for prayer!

I would also ask that you pray for our previous church at Floyd as they candidate a new pastor this weekend.  It has only been about 5 months since I left and I believe that it is a tremendous blessing that they are already at the place where they have found a candidate.  Please pray that God’s Will would be evident in this matter and that His people would follow His leading during this very important weekend.  I am elated and encouraged to think that there could be a new pastor there so quickly.

I am also very encouraged by our progress here at North over the past few months.  Each week there are new visitors, and some are choosing to stay.  Each week I watch as you welcome people into our fellowship and adjust to the changes that we have made over the past few months.  As we continue to grow, I’m sure there will be more changes coming as God leads, and it will be important for us to be ready to move when HE moves and go where HE leads.  Let’s follow him together!

You are loved
