Since it is pastors appreciation month, for the next few days I want to give thanks for the Pastors in my life who helped mold me into the person that I am today.
Rev. Charles R. Hawkins, was my pastor early in life at the Wrights Corners Church of God (now the Crossroads Church of God). All that I really remember about him is kindness, sincerity and compassion. I don’t remember the content of any of his many sermons, but on many occasions I remember seeing tears flowing down his cheeks as he preached. He spoke from the heart, and truly loved the people in his care. He and his Wife Ann were a tremendous blessing in my early life!
Although I was young, I could see occasions where Pastor Hawkins faced adversity from inside and outside the church, but he always modeled a calm strength that made a big impact on my life. He knew that God was in control and it was very evident that he trusted God with all that he had.
Pastor Hawkins has gone on to his eternal reward, but his wife Ann is still serving the church today with her many talents.
